February 2010 Newsletter

In late January we held the Canterbury Kiteboarding Champs here in Christchurch,

the prevailing winds were southerly so the competition was taken out to

Lake Ellesmere for the two day event. We had winds from light to very

strong & the competition went through well in Canterbury Junior, Womens,

& Open classes, we also rans heats to include our visitors who came

from all over New Zealand...everyone was stoked with the weekends action

& plenty of riding was had by all... I'd like to congratulate 15 year old

Anthony Hopkins who is sponsored by KITESPORTS,Ocean Rodeo Sports &

Underground kiteboards for taking out both the Junior & Open Canterbury

Phew...it's hot! About time too...as we approach March the next event

on the calendar is the annual Kitesports Challenge, 6th & 7th March, held

at South Brighton beach...This fun kiteboarding event is sure to be a blast

for everyone involved, with Wave Master, Downwinder, Buggy Time Trials,

Landboard Freestyle, Best Dressed & this year we'll be dusting off all the

old weapons for a 'Retro blast' in all diciplines...
Registrations will at South Brighton Park (by the SB surf club) at 10am Sat.

$30 & a very cool limited tee will be presented to you:-)
We are having a BBQ Saturday night & there's going to be plenty of prizes up

for grabs.
Would be great to see all kiters, young, old & new, everyone is very welcome

to come take part & enjoy the freeride atmosphere...

later this year up in Auckland, & a buggy kite for the Time Trial winner!
